The Bible comic for the Sunday of August 7th is the story of Jesus walking on water, and the apostle Peter walking out to him on the water from Matthew 14:22-33.
This comic is an excerpt from "The Story of Peter," a graphic novel retelling of the life of Peter. I am working on this project with Justin Martin, of R Squared Comicz, and we look forward to sharing more about it in the near future.
Here are updated versions of the parable of the mustard seed (Matthew 13:31-32) and the parable of the yeast (Matthew 13:33). Both stories illustrate that seemingly small things and small actions can have a large impact in God's domain. A pdf file of the comic translation is available on my website: www.earnestillustrations.com
Just in time for the season of Lent, a comic translation of Jesus' temptations in the wilderness.
This bible comic translation is available for use in ministry, and to help share the good news in this new medium. This translation was commissioned by Ms. Marcy Thomas, and it is given to the glory of God, and in thanksgiving for St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Chesterfield Virginia, USA.
This completes the series of parables from Matthew's gospel. (Yay!) It has been a joy to do this series, and to share it with others. In January, I will begin a series on the parables which are specific to Luke's Gospel, most notably the stories of the lost coin, lost sheep and lost son.
I wish you all a peaceful Christmas, and joyful new year.
The graphic translation of Matthew 20:1-16, the parable of the Laborers of the Vineyard.
I had hoped to finish the parable before last Sunday, when the lesson was used, but it wasn't until I preached the message that I had a direction to finish the artwork. As with the parables in this series, they are available to use for ministry for free. If you would like to be on the list to receive the parables in pdf format by email, please send me an e-mail at rectorstjohns1755@verizon .net. If you do, please include your name, church affiliation (if it applies) and how you hope to use it in ministry. Peace, Earnest
I have worked as a graphic artist and as an Episcopal priest. I have loved both experiences, and now am seeking a way to combine the two vocations, to see how the experience and practice of both disciplines can be brought together to translate the bible into a way that will speak to our generation. My wife and I have recently completed graphic novel translations of Jonah, Amos and Esther, titled the Unlikely Chosen.
